Descriptive Analysis

descriptive Huge volume of data gathered by dedicated researcher or study team can be succinctly summarized by efficient use of descriptive statistics. Latter encompass various measures of central tendency (like mean, median and mode) and measures of dispersion (like standard deviation, standard error, range, interquartile range) for continuous or quantitative data. For categorical or nominal data variables, frequencies and percentages are universal descriptors. Each point estimate can be further supplemented by 95% or 99% confidence interval (CI) estimate. Other descriptive statistical indices are percentiles, quartiles, deciles, harmonic or geometric mean and measures of skewness or kurtosis.
